Hey Guys,
So as a make-up artist I am ALWAYS on the lookout for the next best thing in make-up and like most make-up enthusiasts I am always on the lookout for the "Holy Grail" foundation.
I have tried most of the offerings from MAC, Illamasqua, Make-Up Forever, Kryolan and other pro brands to traditional drug store brands and am yet to find a formulation that completely blew me away. After hearing some great things about Urban Decay's HD foundation I decided to give it a try.
The box is gorgeously designed. It reeks of quality and is a lovely metallic champagne colour.
Urban Decay describes their foundation as follows: "Feels like wearing nothing, yet Naked Skin transforms your complexion. Skin looks natural, illuminated and bright with a luminous demi-matte finish: like the beautiful skin you were born with. This remarkable foundation is oil-free, paraben free and formulated with light-diffusing spheres that literally make you look professionally retouched. How does it work? Naked Skin uses optical blurring technology to blur your imperfections, making it the ultimate in ultra definition. This revolutionary makeup loads skin with a list of nourishing ingredients including: Matrixyl 3000 (a powerful anti-wrinkle peptide), protective and brightening Litchiderm, antioxidant Green Tea and Sodium Hyaluronate for optimal skin hydration and nutrient absorption. Buildable coverage allows women to customize their look and makeup preference: from light to full coverage. Plus, Naked Skin is suspended in a sleek, hygienic pump, allowing for more control and less waste of product"
The bottle is absolutely gorgeous and comes complete with a pump (take note MAC!!). Surprisingly it is plastic rather than glass which is handy for traveling and for accidental dropping (oops).
I was matched to the colour 3.5 which is a light cool toned shade.
The formula is quite thin and very fluid, offers a buildable medium coverage and covers blemishes and redness well without appearing cakey. I love the fact it is so easy to blend and has a gorgeous demi matte finish.
It lasts around 8/9 hours on my combination skin which is fantastic as I am on my feet all day,
The only negative I have with this product is that it smells like paint, reminiscent of MAC's Studio Fix. However the smell disappears as soon as the foundation is set so it isn't cause to complain.
I adore this product and it is certainly my current favourite.
You can purchase it for £27 from Debenhams (UK) or $39 from Sephora (USA)
