Satanism

Hey Dolls,
Today I am answering a question I get asked a lot in person and online which is "are you religious". The answer to this is yes, but not in the traditional sense. I identify as a Laveyan Satanist. I wish to make it clear before I continue that I am NOT affiliated with the Church Of Satan and all views herein are my own.

I first read the Satanic Bible at the age of 14, by this age I already had a clear disdain for the false morality of most well known religions.  Of course I wanted to research other philosophies and ideas at this age, I was a being of curiosity and still am to this day. So I began researching Wicca, Judaism, Norse myth and Paganism among other things. Nothing has spoken to me like the works of Lavey.

What has to be made clear from the onset is that I, nor any other Laveyan Satanist worship nor believe in the devil. Satan is a mere metaphor for the carnal nature of man, representing indulgence over abstinence, freedom over conformity and intelligence over stupidity.

I refuse to go largely in to the Satanic beliefs, not because I feel there is anything to hide but because I believe that if you are curious about it you should research it for yourself. After all, what I am writing is just my own humble opinion.

One thing I have noticed about Satanism is that it is an eclectic mix of eccentrics, artists and writers. Some of the most intelligent people and skilled artists I know belong to the Church Of Satan.

Satanism represents kindness to those who deserve it, not love wasted on those who do not. After all, no matter how hard one tries you can not love ones own enemies.

Satanism was one of the first global religions to publicly endorse homosexual relationships. Satanism promotes sexual freedom between two consenting adults as long as no laws are broken... After all, if we do not fulfil our desires they turn in to compulsions, which turn in to addictions and so a once harmless desire all of a sudden rules ones life. The Christian churches stance on abstinence, sexuality and celibacy CLEARLY has done no harm what so ever to church members....ask any choir boy.

The church, which was founded in 1966 by Anton Lavey has members from across the world, however the church does not require someone to be a fully paid up member to call themselves a "Satanist". It is not a church about filling pews, but rather one of strength and accepting man for what it is not what it can NEVER be.

The seven deadly sins of the Christian church, which for those of you who are less well informed are: Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Pride, Greed and Envy are impossible for any normal, mentally balanced human to sustain, this is largely deliberate, after all, if we are all sinners then we all must go to church and purge our sins to a divine ear.

Whilst I am not going to go into details of Satanic beliefs, (if you are curious I leave the research up to you, there are far more illustrious texts written by far more qualified individuals) I will include the nine satanic sins.

The Nine Satanic Sins:
  1. Stupidity
  2. Pretentiousness
  3. Solipsism
  4. Self-deceit
  5. Herd Conformity
  6. Lack of Perspective
  7. Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies
  8. Counterproductive Pride
  9. Lack of Aesthetics
So this is a very brief description of Laveyan Satanism, please note, this website is my property, I pay for its upkeep and hosting and so I will NOT tolerate  abusive or ignorant comments by those on the right hand path. I have read the Christian bible, several times, among other holy texts, this is the exact reason I turned my back upon any and all false gods.

I will however, happily answer any genuine questions about this subject, but please realise I am not a personal encyclopaedia, my time, although not incredibly precious, is still my own so I can not reply instantly.

Directions Midnight Blue Review!

Hey Dolls,
Today I am reviewing Midnight Blue by La Riche' Directions one of the "holy two" hair dye brands: Manic Panic (for which I am a brand ambassador) & La Riche' Directions.

When I dyed my hair I went through nearly every imaginable colour, red, orange, yellow, purple, green (NOT deliberately!) and lastly Midnight Blue. I was so excited to get my hair a pale enough colour that a blue dye would not turn green! (yellow bleached hair + blue dye = scummy green)

The dye came out amazingly! However...be warned! This dye stains anything and EVERYTHING. I washed the dye out with a pair of gloves on and rinsed with cold water for about 10 minuets to ensure every bit of dye was out of my hair. When I looked up I had a bright blue forehead and a sky blue bath tub which was originally white!! (This was fixed by putting some bleach and water mixture in the bath over night!)

After giving up scrubbing my forehead with everything from 99% alcohol, hair dye stain remover, nail polish remover and washing up liquid in a in vein attempt to remove the blue staining...I gave up...and embraced my matching hair/face colour combo.

The real shock came the next day when I tried to style my hair, I blissfully rubbed mousse and pomade through my hair and added some salt spray for my usual messy, scrunched up look and was aghast to see my hands and FINGERNAILS stained electric blue! I still have blue finger nails to this day! Although it has grown out half way giving a horrific 50/50 appearance!

Another word of warning with this colour! (yes seriously) AVOID THE RAIN AT ANY AND ALL COSTS! I was blissfully walking back from college when it started to rain and by the time I got home my face, neck, chest, shirt and scarf were stained blue!

All that aside, this is how the colour turned out! I loved the colour SO much! It was probably one of my favourite colours I went. However... the real issue came when I tried to remove it...

When I wanted to change my hair colour I would bleach wash my hair with a bit of bleach powder and shampoo and I would be taken straight back to my bleach blonde hair ready for the next colour...however this colour turned GREEN. Bright, oh my god, shrek's skin colour GREEN. And what's more it refused to budge any further meaning I had to run crying to Superdrug (wearing a hat obviously) to pick up two black box dyes. The dyes covered the green mostly but I am still left with a green hue in my hair to this day!

This dye is amazing if you wish to commit to blue hair for probably the rest of your life! It is a gorgeous colour but in my opinion, not worth the incontinence, the damage to my sheets and wardrobe or the horror of removing it!

Terror Eyes Vampire Contact Lenses Reviewed!

Hey Dolls,
Today I am reviewing my new contact lenses from Wildcat their Terror Eyes Vampire Lenses.
I saw theses lenses on their website awhile back and instantly fell in love with them.

It is only recently however I decided to purchase them.

They arrived within four days which is quite speedy and were dispatched the same day witch shows amazing customer service.

They were packaged securely within a cardboard box so there was no danger of them being damaged in transport.

This is how the lenses are packaged. Please note you only get ONE lens per pack so you need to buy TWO. I do think this is quite good however for people that want two different coloured contact lenses for a really "Out there" look.

The lenses have a one year life span when looked after properly which is a bargain for the £9.99 price tag (per lens! £19.98 for two!).

My absolute favourite thing about these lenses is that they are thicker than most contact lenses I have worn in the past, this means they hold their shape better making them FAR easier to put in! It is also very easy to check they are the right way round! (Anyone who wears contacts regularly knows how painful it is to put them in inside out).

This is how the lens is pictured on the Wildcat website.

And this is how they look in my dark eyes. The colour pay off is insane and they are VERY comfortable. They really make your eyes stand out and they look very hypnotic! I was mildly concerned they yellow and red colour may look like a serious eye infection...but rest assured they do look very vampire chic.

I really really love these lenses, they are super comfortable, dramatic and high quality. I can really recommenced them.
This is the site they can be bought from http://www.wildcat.co.uk/shop/terror-eyes-vampire-fashion-lens/art_188516/

Tripping Over You

Hey Dolls,
This is not a beauty related post but I just wanted to share with you this adorable online comic I have recently become obsessed with thanks to one of my closest friends recommendation.

It is called Tripping Over You and it follows Milo and Liam, an adorable gay couple.

It is SO well written and beautifully drawn and I can not wait to see how the story progresses.

Please feel free to check it out at http://trippingoveryou.com/ and supporting the wonderful artists behind it

I hope it brings you as much excitement and heart warming joy as it has me.

xoxo

Stress...Lots Of Stress.

Hey Dolls!
I have not posted in ages, AGAIN and I am a tiny bit sick of opening all of my posts like this, suffice to say college has been getting me down lately and I just have not felt like writing. AT ALL. But I am pleased to say the Gothinista is BACK (insert fanfare here).

I have been seriously struggling with stress lately. Stress and annoyance have been constant factors in my daily life of late. People forget I have the daily stress of being a student coupled with the stress of freelance make-up work, finding a permanent paying job, running my business as well as writing. This work load is not including the normal stresses life throws at us all.

It has started to take its toll upon me. Not a single day goes by when I do not get the following, a blistering headache, sickness or, my personal favourite, blistering headache AND sickness. FUN.

I have tried herbal teas, bubble baths, essential oils and more, all to no avail...in fact all those suggestions did was remind me I loath tea, baths make me uncomfortably hot and if nothing else the oils made my head worse.

I physically can not wait for college to be done. I will breathe the biggest sigh of relief when I finish the disaster of a course I am on and start doing what I actually wanted to do. My L3 NVQ in Make-Up Artistry.

Another thing I am really looking forward to is spending some more time with my gorgeous boyfriend, especially heading to London for my birthday. It is fair to say, my first time in London with him was the best time of my life.

I feel kind of estranged at the moment. I am not entirely sure where I belong, my best friend (and guest writer on Gothinista) Hattie is in Australia for a month, my boyfriend is not in hugging distance and I find myself dissatisfied with college on a incomprehensible level.

I do hope and expect the stress levels to diminish once I finish this train wreck of a college course (L2 Hair & Media Make-Up for those of you asking). I just hope this will be before I end up completely mad and bald.

Killstar Clothing

Hey Dolls,
Today I am posting about a brand I have been obsessed with lately, the genuinely amazing Killstar Clothing. I wish to make clear I am not affiliated with them and they have not asked me to write this post. All opinions are my own.

I love Killstar's designs and I thought I would share some of my favourite items with my readers.
I simply adore the attention to detail in each of the digital print designs.

The first piece that caught my eye and the design which got me obsessed is the Ancient Space T-Shirt.

It is such a unique design and I adore the strong colours and symbols. It is also made out of VERY soft Jersy fabric. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

The next item is one I would KILL for, it is everything I love rolled in to one perfect leather jacket.
It is Killstars Sigil Men's leather jacket. Made from 100% leather. Handmade and embroidered. It is a stunning item and totally worth the £199.99 asking price.

The next item is one I simply adore as it reminds me of a certain famous music video by a certain famous...slightly Gaga ( ;) ) pop star.

It is the Unicorn Vest. I love the inverted cross design. Alternative culture meets pop culture. As always with Killstar the quality is amazing.

The next product is one I need in my life, especially at college. It is Killstars Occult backpack. It is currently sold out on their website which is the only thing stopping me from spending £30 I do not have.

I do adore the array of symbols and imagery on display on this backpack. It really is unique.

The final item I have fallen in love with is the Babylon Rose T-Shirt.

This really is a beautiful item, another gorgeous all over screen print design. I really adore the vintage style it has.

I can't rave about Killstar enough, their customer service is faultless and their designs unique and stylish. They really are one of my favourite independent clothing brands and an exciting force in the Alternative clothing industry.

You can buy their products directly from their website http://www.killstar.com/ and they also offer FREE UK delivery on orders over £30.
