Guilty Pleasures

Hey Dolls,
Something occurred to me today when I was asked  "what are your guilty pleasures?"  and I remember thinking "what ARE my guilty pleasures?! Wait...do I even have any?" This got me thinking about the very meaning of what a guilty pleasure is. Something someone thinks we are not allowed to like. By definition it means something we should be embarrassed to enjoy.

To me this feels repressive.

Why should I feel guilty about what music I listen to or what clothing brands I choose to wear? Or god forbid I enjoy a certain TV show or movie.

I feel no shame in admitting my taste in music ranges from Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper and Motionless In White all the way to Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Ke$ha and MILEY CYRUS. Yet I refuse to be made to feel guilty for it. Why should I, or indeed anyone be made to feel the need to repress their taste to appease their social circle?

So no, I am proud to say I have zero guilty pleasures. So what, dear reader are your guilty pleasures? Do you have any or are you proud to live guilt free like myself? Let me know in the comments section bellow.

xoxo

Vitamin C Hair Dye Removal

Hey Dolls,
Today I am sharing my thoughts of the VERY popular hair dye removal method using Vitamin C Powder/Tablets and anti dandruff shampoo. I know that as I am a hairdresser I should be able to tell you the science behind how this works but the truth is I have no idea.

It is very simple to do, you simply add shampoo to some crushed vitamin c tablets until you get a paste, lather it into your hair, stick a shower cap on your head and leave it on for an hour or two. And violla! Whatever semi permanent dye you have had in your hair will have faded. A LOT.

One thing I did wish to say about this method of dye removal is that it made my scalp burn. Quite a lot. However the second I rinsed it off, there was no redness or burning...I am unsure if this is just me or something that is common with it.

It did work however, I have gone from purple and blue to Manic Panic's Vampire Red and La Riche' Directions Plum.

Have you tried the Vitamin C trick?
Did it work for you?

Let me know in the comments.

Miranda Hart: My What I Call Live Show Review.

Hey Dolls,
So on Wednesday I was lucky enough to see Miranda Hart live at the O2 Arena in London. This is something I had very very high expectations for as I am a big fan of Miranda Harts sitcom, as were the other sixteen THOUSAND people in attendance from the sound of them. It is Hart's warm, family friendly humour that appeals to many and it is testament to her that she could fill the O2 to near full capacity.

One thing that stood out is that she owned the stage, she was confident from the second she started her own introduction to the end where she did an encore dressed as Beyonce.

I'd say it was less stand up and much more joy making. From her making 16,000 people imitate a posh party, to her making every single woman in attendance sing "I Will Survive"  to making two strangers go on a surprise blind date during the interval. There was not one part of the show that did not make you smile. Which in stand up comedy, is a real feat.

Miranda Hart really is at her best when she improvises and leaves the safety of her script. Whilst her jokes were well crafted they were too meticulously done,  laughter was guaranteed which made it seem a bit too safe. It was only when she started yelling at a woman walking down the isles to "GALLOP NOT WALK!!" before realising that said woman was on crutches that the real hilarity ensued.

It was a genuine, slick and GLEEFUL performance. She fired snacks into the crowd via an airgun, made the audience dance and  told stories of horrific social errors. And for her efforts there was not one person who left without a smile on their face.
