Rimmel 9-In-1 BB Cream Review

He my beautiful Dolls,
So I recently bought my first BB cream (took me long enough, right?) and I thought I'd share my experiences with you. I chose the Rimmel London 9-In-1 BB cream in Light, which costs around £6.99 and can be bought from most drugstores or online. However, while I like the product itself I do have some issues with it.

This is what it says on the back of the bottle:
"It's a skin perfecting super makeup! 9 In 1 results: Primes, Moisturises, Minimises Pores, Conceals, Covers, Smoothes, Mattifies, Brightens and helps Protect"

Sounds great right? Well what they're basically doing is saying the same thing...with a slightly different word each time... "Primes, minimizes pores, smooths" and "conceals, covers" are all the same thing! Just with slightly different wording.. so technically it is a 3 in one product. (Just saying)

It has a SPF factor, (SPF 25) which I love for day to day wear but loath for photographing (it gives a lovely corpse like look to your face in photos)

The packaging is nice enough I suppose, it does feel a bit cheap however and the tube can cause product wastage. You get 30ml of product which is about the average for any foundation. There is a very poor shade range...actually it's less of a range...more a couple...as in 2. Light and Medium. That's it. So sorry dark skinned beauties but this isn't a product for you. I'm baffled by the appealing lack of shades...I get that it's a BB cream but surely there should be Light, Medium and DARK?!

It has a very thick, whipped texture to it. Like a watered down version of the +Maybelline UK  Dream Matte Mouse foundation. It is a light coverage so it is certainly not like the insanity of the true Asian Beauty Balms which can cover anything then cover a bit more. It also smells a bit like a cheap sunscreen I once used so that doesn't thrill me either. It's the sort of smell which tickles your nose.

Partially Blended

Fully Blended.

It applies beautifully however, and I do like to apply it with the fingers (which is rare for me in makeup.). The coverage isn't awe inspiring but it is descent I suppose. My issue with this is...it is basically a glorified tinted moisturizer. NOT a BB cream. The Asian Beauty Balms would eat this as a snack. I'm actually quite annoyed with the 'claims' of this product..you may as well buy Nivea's tinted moisturizer because you'd get the same coverage and an SPF factor AND a nicer smell...

Wearing JUST the Rimmel BB Cream.

Because of all of this I'm going to have to give it a low rating. I will be interested to try some more BB Creams soon though!

Until next time! xoxo

MAC Select Moisturecover Review!

Hey Dolls,
Today I am reviewing my trusty MAC concealer, their brilliant Select Moisturecover. It cost's £15 and can be bought from MAC's website (HERE). I bought NC20 which seems a pretty good match for me. You get 5ml of product in a sleek looking tube with a lipgloss style aplicator.

I do like the packaging a lot. It is certainly shatter proof plastic as mine has been dropped many a time. It's very small, however it really does the job.

It has a cute applicator that is very soft and PERFECT for dotting the concealer under they eyes or anywhere else that needs concealing. It can also be used as a highlighter too which I LOVE. It is a medium coverage concealer, it's great for under the eyes or adding an extra bit of coverage but it isn't heavy duty.
However for those "Oh my god I look like a half dead thing!" mornings, over foundation this will brighten your eyes nicely!

MAC's online swatches aren't brilliant...it looked almost grey on their website. I was concerned I'd end up with skin the colour of a dead fish. However luckily for me it is a perfect match! But if you can get colour matched and save the hassle of MAC's swatches.

Partially Blended
Fully Blended

It is a lovely creamy consistency that blends like a dream. You can also build the coverage without it looking cakey. If I need full on camouflaging "hide everything" concealer, I'll always dig out my Illamasqua one. But for under the eyes and dark circles this is AMAZING! It works amazingly with MAC's Studio Sculpt too as they have a similar gel texture.

For a under eye concealer this is, in my humble opinion, BRILLIANT!
I'll defiantly repurchase. So because of that it gets a 5 star rating.

New Years Day Victim To Villain Reviw

Hey Dolls,
I know this was originally only a beauty blog but I have since decided to include Fashion, Music & Film on my blog as well. Today I am reviewing an album by a band I have a lot of respect for, the female fronted rock band New Years Day.

I have a lot of respect for them for two reasons, one they are original and in my opinion very talented, (this band have been around for awhile they aren't ripping off anyone, it is, quite the opposite actually) and two, during the hellish ordeal they suffered when touring with the scene band Blood On The Dance Floor I really respect the level of professionalism shown by Ashley and the band.

They have recently released their second album titled Victim To Villain, which has a concept I can strongly relate to, but more on that later. It is their second full length album, but as even the band have said, it feels like their first. This album is pure New Years Day. No outside influences it is completely them.

The first thing I have to commend front woman Ashley Costello on is the sincerity of her vocals. She can go from "I will kill you in your sleep" to the most soulful voice I have heard in a long long time. One line on the track Hello Darkness is so sorrowfully delivered it almost gets me in tears "I've always known that I'm alone, Hello Darkness I am home."

My only complaint with this incredible album is that it;s a bit...well...short. I have bought singles with a longer running time than this album which clocks in at 34:41. But it is short and VERY sweet (with a twist of spite and vindictiveness obviously ;) )

1: Do Your Worst: "You've got a nasty little side of you that's new to me" Ash rasps as the opener of the album. This is an amazing track and a great start to the album. It is very fun and like everything NYD do it is very Halloweeny.

2: I'm No Good: Sweet mother of holy pop punk. This is a very fun track. It is almost dancy. I really cant get enough of this.

3: Bloody Mary: There seem to be a lot of tracks with this name recently. But anyway, this song is about other bands copying NYD's style. "She screams her voice away so she stole mine. Spoke my words but they didn't taste right. It's imitation but I'm not flattered. And she'll never matter in anyone's eyes" This is a very very good track, in fact it is one of the album standouts!

4: Victims: This track is a much more emo vibe, but it doesn't loose the sense of fun. It still makes you want to dance. Something not many other rock bands do. It is not my favorite but it is FAR from poor.

5: Hello Darkness: This track starts so softly and I don't think I have ever heard Ashley's voice be as beautiful as it is at the beginning of this track. It is so heart felt. It is incredible. I love it. The emotion in Ash's vocals is unbelievable I really can't recommend it enough. I first thought this track to be about a failing relationship but now realize it is about suicidal thoughts and the darkness in everyday life.

6: Death Of The Party: "We are the death of the party" Y'know when you hear a song and think "this was meant to be sung live and screamed by fans" well this is definitely one of those songs. It's so catchy! It's also got quite a positive message to it so I really dig this track.

7: The Arsonist: I love the opener to this track, it is so atmospheric and again BEAUTIFUL soft vocals from Ash. "How does it feel to take a life away?" I really love this track. It has a nice mix of soft and heavy rock.

8: Angel Eyes (ft Chris Motionless of MIW): OH. MY. GOD. This track is like a drug. It is hard hitting and addictive. It is amazing! I love how well both Ash's and Chris's vocals work together and the video (at the bottom of the page) is amazing.  One of the albums best tracks definitely.

9: Any Last Words? This is such a good song! It is very good fun and it makes murder seem weirdly dancy! It is just such a fun track! Perfect for Halloween!

10: Tombstone:  I really REALLY wish this track was longer. Although if it was half an hour long it would still be too short. Ashley Costello has an amazing voice and this track SHOWS IT! It is so Gothic and so beautiful. "Rest In Peace, rest with me" It is waltzing and eerie and I just can't rave about the vocals enough! It is such a beautiful track. Definitely one of the best on the album in terms of vocals and music.

11: Last Great Love Story: " So take my hand, take my love, take my life. We'll dance with the ghosts, with the souls of the night" The close to the album is definitley a belter of a track. Not the albums best but on any other pop/rock album it'd be a standout.

I really love this album and NYD themselves, they seem like lovely grounded people passionate about music. So without question this album gets a 5 star rating!

Barry M Red Wine Review

Hey Dolls,
This is the second Barry M Nail Paint I bought a few days ago and I LOVE, LOVE, LOOOOOVE IT!!
I genuinely think this is one of the nicest red nail polishes I own. It is a gorgeous blood red with such a striking shine!

I picked this gorgeous gem up for £2.99 from my local Superdrug store and I fell in love with it instantly! It applies like a thin gel and sets so beautifully. It dries glossier than when it's wet! (:O) I'm not the biggest fan of the brushes Barry M puts on their nail paints. I find they "fan" a bit too much and get nail polish where I don't want it. But this is easily rectified by a cotton bud (q-tip) dipped in nail polish remover swiped around the edge of the nail.
Artificial Light.

Natural light. (I have ridiculously steady hands and am amazing with applying nail varnishes but Barry M's brush doesn't make it easy!

Aside from the dodgy brush I really do adore the formula and the colour. It is opaque in two coats, doesn't need a top coat and LASTS. I don't get chips until around the 6 day mark.

What's your favorite Barry M colour?
xoxo

Barry M Black Nail Paint Review

Hey Dolls,
This is my first nail varnish review and before I start I should say I love Barry M, they are some of the most amazing nail colours you can buy! Now as my blog is called Mr GOTH(inista) it should be pretty obvious that I'm a fan of black nail lacquers, so you can imagine my excitement when I saw a gorgeous oily black for £2.99!!

I applied it late at night and after two coats I was happy that I had a GORGEOUS
outrageously glossy black. However in the morning light I was horrified to see that it was still sheer in places! I was genuinely shocked! So I applied a thin third coat and was greeted with pure, black as sin, glossy as an oil spill nails. It does look fabulous! However I am annoyed it needs 3 coats to be fully opaque. You can do it in two...but be prepared to have inch thick nails.

Excuse the bad paint job....*note to self* "Don't paint nails at 1am!"

I really like, even love the colour and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than Illamasquas black polishes but the fact that I have to do 3 coats is slightly annoying. However there is a major plus! You will not need a top coat with this nail paint. Because it is GLOSSY! Full on gloss. There really is no way that a nail polish could be any glossier than this, it is gorgeous!

If you can forgive it's weaker pigmentation I really can't rave about it enough for £2.99! It's definitely a good buy! (I've had nail lacquers from MAC go on shearer!)

Illamasqua Cream Foundation Review

Hey Dolls,
Sorry for my lack of posting, there has been a death in my family (RIP Grandma) and I have been unwell. However I am now back to regular posting (YAY!).

Today I am reviewing Illamasqua's Cream foundation in two shades, shade CF110 and shade CF120. I got these from the Illamasqua counter in Birmingham last winter as I needed something full coverage that I could touch up on the go. I paid £23 each for these foundations and I have to say, money well spend. This is how Illamasqua describes them.

"Create a base that brings out the bold in you. Illamasqua Cream Foundation provides medium-full coverage and works with your skin to cover and enhance. It blends easily, allowing you to vary coverage as much or as little as you need, effortlessly balancing uneven skin tone and giving you the control to create a flawless finish. Comes in a mirror compact for touch-ups on the go."

The packaging is standard Illamasqua, sleek and gothic.

It certainly delivers on coverage, it's a high medium to full coverage. You get a sponge to apply it with which is nice, but i do prefer a brush. Either my MAC stippling brush or a liquid foundation brush. One of my favorite things about this product is that it has powder in it so no need to powder it. It also has a great mirror in the top as well.
CF120

CF110
Both of these match me perfectly in different seasons, scarily CF110 is my PERFECT match in the winter and CF120 is amazing for me in the other seasons. Both are for pale skin (CF110 may be better suited for vampires. It's pure pinky white!) and both have pink undertones. They are very true to the Illamasqua swatches but if you can get colour matched do! If not the Illamasqua swatches are pretty damn good.

CF110 swatched on my hand. Blended and unblended

It lasts quite well but does sweat off easily in the summer, I'd defiantly say it's an autumn and winter foundation! It has a gorgeous vanilla sent to it and what's even better is it hasn't agitated even the ridiculously sensitive skin of my mother. It is not an artificial sent.

The gorgeous sponge supplied with each.
I really do like this foundation. It's not in the same league as their Rich Liquid foundation but I still love it. It also makes an amazing concealer too!

I hope you've enjoyed this review and I am pleased to be back posting regularly.  I'd love to thank my readers/followers for their lovely words in this hard time. Many thanks!

Until next time! xoxo

MUA Lipstick Reviews

Hey there Dolls,
Today I am reviewing two lipsticks I have had for ages by MUA, I planned them to be the first review on my blog but I kept forgetting. MUA is a brand which is duly raved about because of the quality of their products at incomprehensible prices. Super pigmented lipstick for £1? Who's going to say no to that?!

I like the packaging, it is very basic but not cheap feeling, although their new lipsticks designed by *gag* One Direction do seem to be ripping off MAC's 'bullet' shaped lipstick tube.

I will admit I deliberately chose two opposite finishes, Shade number 4 (a seemingly nameless shade) Which is a super light, glossy bubble gum pink that needs two coats to cover and  shade 15 which is called 'Juicy' which is a SUPER opaque coraly orange.

I shall start with shade 4. It is a very pretty glossy pink, very subtle. One coat gives a very subtle pink shimmer and two gives a sheer but noticeable Bubble Gum pink colour. It is very light on the lips but it doesn't wear long at all. Literally two hours maximum. However it was £1. I've had FAR worse lipsticks for £8+ so I'm not complaining about this one.

Shade 4 left. Shade 15 (Juicy) right.

Then we come to the aptly named Juicy. I ADORE THIS LIPSTICK! Like seriously, it is opaque. In one swipe you get full on opaque coverage. It is incredible! I have MAC lipsticks that're worse than this and I paid £15 for them! It is such a gorgeous coral colour. Perfect for a more dressed up 'nude lip'. I really can't rave about it enough!

I really need to try one of MUA's red lipsticks. But these two are fabulous. Let me ask, where else can you get two quality lipsticks for £2 that WON'T burn your flesh?! MUA are amazing for tighter budgets. And I can't recommend their products enough.

Until next time Dolls. XOXO

Sleek Makeup Matte Brights Palete Review

Hey Dolls,
I am back once more to delve into a dark glittery world of powder and paint and this time I am taking you on a tour of what I thought would be the BRIGHTEST palette to come from a drug store cosmetics brand.

Let me start by saying I adore Sleek Makeup, I love the fact they are trying to bring bold and bright colours to the cheaper price range. You get 12 1.1g (Why .1?) eyeshadows in the palette and they all look bright and super colourful. I bought my palette for £7.95 from Sleek Makeup's website.

It is packaged in a similar box to the other Sleek Makeup palettes. It feels smart but quite bland, if you're making a bright product why package it in a drab black box? It looks good enough I suppose but I would expect something marketed as bright to be in bright packaging(You could call me fussy but I like products with a flair and effort behind)

In the pan the shadows look BRIGHT and I do mean, "Where's my sunglasses?!" bright. I love the actual palette too, it has a very good mirror in and it does feel sturdy; however another packaging gripe is that if you have any other Sleek palette you won't be able to easily tell them apart as they all look the same. Although I'm told they have started printing the palette name underneath the palette.

The shadows look true to the description, bright and matte (how annoying it is buying matte products that have more shine than Beyonce). and it certainly is a very pretty palette. However it is a very mixed bag, the colours that are good are amazing and the ones that are poor are appalling. For example, when I first started using it the orange shadow was so hard and chalky it was like trying to bleed a rock to get any onto my brush.

Blue where are you?

The top row of the colours are mainly VERY pigmented, all except for the pale sky blue which doesn't even show up on camera! I'm also unsure as to why Sleek Makeup put two of pretty much the same colour in one palette. I can't figure it out.

The bottom row REALLY let the side down. You will probably see there are only 3 colours visible instead of 6....well 3 don't show up at all. Besides that the green is perfection, a super pigmented, butter soft grasshopper green (HELL. YES!) and the dark sky blue is also incredible. The orange is very hard and also quite...dirty looking. But it is still a nice enough shadow. Then we come to a nude pink with no colour to it at all, a bizarre moth gray with no pigment and a weird matte white which I still haven't been able to get any out of the pan.

I do like this palette. I like what it is trying to do...but it doesn't do it brilliantly. I'd say it's more a 7 colour palette as you have 4 that don't show up and two of the same colour. If you want to try Sleek Makeup I would really recommend their Acid palette much more than this one.
A very quick look using a few of the more pigmented shades.

Until next time dolls. xoxo

Lady Gaga Applause Single Review!

Little Monsters it is HERE! Released eight full days early due to constant low quality leaks, Lady Gaga's new single Applause is now on YouTube in full! This is quite different to Gaga's other work but in some ways similar. It is a unusual mix of the 'Sugar Pop/Rock' of The Fame, the chilling Gothic industrial pop of Mons†er and the hard dubstep of Born This Way with a touch of EMD thrown in.

Personally I feel it is a lyrical step backwards and I far preferred the dark meaningful lyrics of The Fame/Monster or Born This Way however it is light years ahead of the inane whining of the likes of Wil.I.Am.

It has a very dancey vibe to it and the clubs will LOVE it no question, but for the queen of crazy it doesn't feel all that .....crazy. It feels like another dance pop song...which it is. I expected something else. I expected loud dubstep, crazy unexpected guitars and insane vocals as per usual. This is a bit....non descriptive. I love it don't get me wrong but I'm not really sure it will be remembered. I think it will do its rounds on Radio1 and then be forgotten. Much like Katy Perry's single. I'm not saying she has sold out at all. I just don't think it's her best work.

Please leave your opinions in the comments section and listen to the full track below!

Lime Crime Alchemy Palette Review

Hey Dolls,
So I am back from my holiday (a week on the Gower peninsula thanks for asking ;) ) and am super excited to be back to posting on my blog. Before I start this review I want to make it VERY clear to my readers I don't want this to turn into a "Bash Lime Crime" post. This is a review on the product NOT the company's past actions. (Information on this is available online should you wish to read it)

I got the palette from www.love-makeup.co.uk for the sale price of £14 + the sites £3.50, which also saved me money on import duty, and although it wasn't bought direct from Lime Crime there must be some magic unicorn glitter on that parcel as it arrived the next day!

SOOOOOO CUUUUUUTTTEEE.

The palette is in a gorgeous, and I do mean GORGEOUS gold box designed to look like a golden envelope. It is so unique, so adorable and I have to keep it in its box because I love it so much.  It really is beautifully designed so well done Lime Crime! (Love-Makeup also packaged the item very well too!) The actual palettes packaging isn't something that, as a makeup student, I'd want in my kit bag because....well...it is a bit childish looking. It's gorgeous and fun yes, but I'm not really sure I'd wish to get it out on a set. Products like MAC are much better suited for that role.

It's eyeshadow not paints...PROMISE!
While I love, as in LOVE the design on the tin of the palette...it does look and feel worryingly like a kids paint set; from the aluminium case to the plastic insert. However I'm far from knocking the gorgeous colours of it or the gold unicorn!

Then we get down to the actual product. I will admit, when I read other BBloggers reviews of this product I thought "OH NO!! What have I done?!" But I REALLY love this product. Only however, when I learnt to accept no matter how much primer or product I use it'll NEVER look like Lime Crime's 'swatches' for this palette. They are not colour accurate and reek of Photoshop. However what you do get is five very pigmented, smooth, Vegan friendly eyeshadows in very unique colours.

Left to right: Incantation (orangy/copper) , Lucky Charm (green), Love Potion N'9 (purple), Spellbound (Gold Shimmer) and Divination (Peacock blue)
The colours are really unique and you can get really creative with them. There are certainly none I dislike.

Top to bottom: Incantation (orangy/copper) , Lucky Charm (green), Love Potion N'9 (purple), Spellbound (Gold Shimmer) and Divination (Peacock blue)

Incantation is by far the most pigmented, it is soft, buttery and outlandish on the eyes, it blends like a shimmery unicorn dream. I LOVE IT!.

Lucky Charm is quite hard, you do have to layer it, but it is worth it, it is a dark ivy green and I really do love it, it is in my experience quite a unique green and once you have achieved opaque coverage it is very easy to blend.

Love Potion N'9 is similar to Lucky Charm, it's quite hard but once you get full coverage it is GORGEOUS. I really love this colour. It is amazing.

Spellbound. Well the name says it all...I love it. It is a rich gold shimmer that can be worn alone for a subtle gold lid or layered upon another shadow or used as a brow highlight or...well you get the picture. It's butter soft and so blendable (Not an actual word)

Divination. Well, this is Lime Crime peacocking. It is a gorgeous, super pigmented dark shimmery blue. It is outrageously pigmented, much like Incantation, it's Sugarpill level pigmentation.

These shimmery colours really have left me spellbound. I love the fun attitude to this palette and I do love the colours. However the Photoshopped images do annoy me a bit. But that aside I LOVE this product!
